Robert Morin
Founder & CEO

Robert Morin, a distinguished member of the Enoch Cree Nation, stands at the forefront of economic development and visionary leadership. With a rich and influential career, Robert's impact extends across various domains, benefiting Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities alike.

As the Founder and CEO of Sharlow Enterprises Ltd., Robert brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the field of economic development. His commitment to forging pathways to prosperity has transcended boundaries leaving a lasting mark across many communities.

One of Robert's most notable accomplishments was his tenure as the former president and CEO of the River Cree Resort and Casino, Robert was instrumental in realizing the $173 million development, establishing it as a beacon of economic empowerment for the Enoch Cree First Nation. This flagship project, completed in 2006, encapsulates a Marriott hotel, sports complex, and a vibrant array of restaurants, conference spaces, and a casino. Under his astute guidance, the venture not only boosted the regional economy with an annual income that has exceeded the projected $75 million but also epitomized equitable revenue distribution among the non-host First Nation communities in Treaty 6, 7 & 8, all while enhancing employment and economic opportunities for the Enoch Cree Nation and the greater Edmonton area.

Robert Morin's visionary leadership extends to his role in introducing the concept of the Alberta Indigenous Opportunities Corporation (AIOC) to former Alberta Premier Honourable Jason Kenny in 2019. The AIOC is an innovative program designed to support Indigenous equity ownership in major infrastructure projects. This groundbreaking initiative has witnessed remarkable growth, expanding from its initial $1 billion commitment to a current $2 billion and will be increased to impressive $3 billion by April 2024, as announced by current Premier Danielle Smith on October 30, 2023. The AIOC serves as a catalyst for Indigenous groups and communities, enabling them to transform their innovative ideas into actionable solutions across various sectors, such as natural resources, agriculture, telecommunications, and transportation projects.

Robert's tenure as an esteemed executive board member at RETI amplifies his profound commitment to Indigenous ownership in energy transition project development. His extensive experience dovetails perfectly with RETI's mission, advocating for Indigenous participation and sustainable development in energy projects.

In his continued pursuit of inclusive growth and inter-generational wealth for Indigenous communities, Robert currently serves as the Chairman of Project Reconciliation. This pioneering initiative aims to foster Indigenous inter-generational wealth through substantial ownership in infrastructure and energy transition projects, notably advocating for the 100% Indigenous ownership of Trans Mountain Corporation.

Widely celebrated for his remarkable achievements, Robert Morin's expertise, leadership, and unwavering dedication to community advancement serve as a source of inspiration and guidance for both Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities across Canada. He stands as a visionary leader who has not only left an indelible mark on the economic landscape but has also played a vital role in advancing the principles of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) with a strong focus on the 'I'—Indigenous inclusion and equity. Robert's work embodies a commitment to creating a brighter and more equitable future for all.
